Cigar Review: Moya Cazadores Nautal

Havana seed tobacco, Grown in Tampa Florida, bundle cigars,  machine  rolled. Natural. Roll seems a little tight near foot, and a little soft in the middle. Draw is a little tight. This is a bargain cigar here at Brothers we sell them for only $1.85.

The smells are very nice just a good overall natural tobacco smell nothing that really stands out as being spicy or earthy or leathery, just all natural tobacco. I'm going to light this up and get into the first third.

Getting started the draw is very tight. Not a whole lot of flavors. The smoke is soft though with a light body. The aromas that I'm getting from this smoke are a sweet tangy cheese.  Not a bad smell.  Just different. The burn is even enough.

In the second 3rd, the draw had really opened up, nice and easy. Unfortunately,  the tastes have become slightly bitter. I think a cup  of coffee would help smooth it out.  I get some leather and coffee beans in the taste.

In the last third, that bitterness has almost disappeared flavors are still straight forward a little bit of leather more of a natural tobacco. Definitely a good buy.

I brought these cigars in and a customer told me that he buys them by the bundle as everyday smokes and I agree with him. Good all the way to the last third one for $1.85 that's very surprising.
Thanks for reading!

How Many Flames Do We Need?!

When lighting that $3, $5, or $10+ cigar, remember these rules:

 1. Use wooden matches(let that sulfur head burn away) or a torch lighter

 2. Don't over burn that cigar!
 3. Get a light toasting on the foot, then puff away with a little more flame on it.

But this article is not instruction on how to light a cigar, it's to ask the question:

HOW MANY FLAMES DO WE REALLY NEED?

With such a wide selection of torch lighters, most people think that more flames means  a better light, I respectfully disagree. I believe that, ultimately, single flame torch lighters are the way to go. Too many flames means you risk over burning your smoke, creating a canoe-ing effect, lighting it too fast, or unevenburning. At Brothers we do sell torches with multiple flames, but remain mosting with singles.

Let's be honest, we are taking time to enjoy one of the finer things in life, why rush? a single flame lets you enjoy the smooth richness of that first light, when that cigar truely tastes best. It allows for a more even light without worry of overburn.

I think we can all agree that our lives are over rushed as it is. there is ALWAYS something that needs to be done, a phone call or text needing to be sent, a bill to be paid. Let's make like the "good ol' days" and take it slow with our cigars.

It begs the old question,"Do you want it done right, or done fast?"

A Cheap Cigar...

There is a major differnce between a cheap cigar, and a cigar that is cheap. To break it down further, there is a major difference between a low cost cigar and a low cost cigar that tastes cheap.

At BFT we sell a few cigars that are under $3. ALL of these cigars are low cost, but not cheap. The few off the top of my head are Flor de Gonzoles Lonsdale ($3), Cuban Rounds Maduro ($2.50), and the JC New Factory 59s ($1.50). All have good flavor, quality wrappers, and smooth burns.

I recently had the opportunity to smoke a Gurkha Prize fighter, $1.89 at a local cigar chain. I was attracted by the price tag, especially for the Gurkha line. I really enjoy their symphony line BTW.

Unfortunately the price tells the story. This is a cheap cigar, that tastes, feels, and smokes cheap. The wrapper feels and tastes papery, and that carries over to the mouth feel. The cigar burns surprisingly fast. I feel the the filler used is cheap and too dry. A minor disappointment from an otherwise good producer.

My recommendation, come in and we'll get you a low cost, good cigar, or pay the couple extra dollars for a better cigar. Remember, you get what you pay for.
